On Monday August the trailer of the film that closes the Spider-Man trilogy for the Marvel Cinematic Universe was released. And in response to much speculation and wishes from millions of fans, it showed us that there will be a multiverse on the big screen. A bigger surprise is that it will include the endearing actors of a generation that grew up with the other hero films, especially the Sam Raimi trilogy.

This announcement has caused immediate comparisons of the films that have captivated us in the last 20 years, but also to review the box office and the impact that these movies has had.
